Organization of Players
Our league provides children (ages 5 - 22) with an intellectual and/or physical disability the opportunity to enjoy playing the game of baseball in a safe and fun environment as a team member on an organized league. The rules are simple:
- Every player bats once each inning (each game has two innings)
- All base runners are safe
- Every player scores a run before the inning is over (last one up hits a home run)
- Community volunteers serve as "buddies" to assist the players
- Each team and each player wins every game
The Miracle League of High Point played its first season in 2009 with 42 players on 4 teams. As the league continues to grow, games are now played Friday nights under the lights and Saturdays.
- We play two seasons each year- Spring and Fall
- Teams average 10 -15 players and games last about 1 hour
- No practice required- just arrive 30 minutes before scheduled game time
- Every team has a head coach and up to 4 assistant coaches
- Every player receives a baseball jersey and Major League ball cap and a buddy to assist them as they play
- Players can choose a "nick-name" & favorite song that will be played as they come up to bat
- There is no fee to participate!!!!!
